Based on musicians Tegan and Sara Quin's best-selling memoir, High School is a story about finding your own identity—a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimics your own. Told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of sisters growing up down the hall from one another.

An impossibly sweet and tender coming-of-age series that brings all of its characters' truths to screen with maximum heart and authenticity. Go to Full Review

The confused intensity of the relationships DuVall and her young cast create, between outsider girls who’ve yet to discover where they fall on the gay-straight spectrum, feels like something new on TV. Go to Full Review

The show can feel like a slow burn, but it also has the same coziness and gentle angst that made “My So-Called Life” a cult hit. It wears like a baggy wool cardigan. Go to Full Review

The series seems better suited to explore Simone's quietly imploding marriage than Tegan and Sara's burgeoning musical career. The naturalistic performances are great, but the framing device, short eps & brief season means High School barely gets going Go to Full Review

The series does a remarkable job of showing those little moments where you feel like you get a glimpse of the person’s most vulnerable emotions. Go to Full Review

This show is an instant winner for all fans of Sara and Tegan Quin. Those who enjoy watching the show, even those who have no prior knowledge of the Quin sisters, will likely want to read their autobiography or stream their music. Go to Full Review

John C 04/15/2024 Very well written and directed. Outstanding acting from the entire cast. A terrific series which begs for Season 2! See more Stephanie N 09/25/2023 Atmospheric coming-of-age series with multi-perspective narrative. Loved it. See more Sophie N @Sophs 08/15/2023 I loved it, super interesting to see how Tegan and Saras love for music began. It was beautiful and really relatable as I am a twin and a sister, it's always nice to see sister relationships on tv :) Cant wait for season 2!!! See more Dale W 08/13/2023 This was a late night lark to put on in the background and fall asleep too, then I ended up loving it. The two twins were just great and the parallel separate storylines way of portraying the two perspectives was just great. Kudos. See more Joanna M 01/25/2023 Love this show and can't wait to see what Tegan and Sara do next :)! See more Klaus F 01/11/2023 A great coming of age series. It gets better and better as you move through the story. I really liked the "Point of View" aspects from each leading role, during select episodes. It's a progressive viewpoint, so for those with a conservative belief system, they may be uncomfortable viewing the content, and themes of the storyline. However, if you are open to learning, and understanding another persons viewpoint, their orientation, then this is a great series to watch. We all have similarities in life, and we all have to grow up. We relate to peer pressure, rejection, high school friendships, learning about accountability, weekend parties, and "first loves". The life stories are real, the parental challenges are universal and very relatable. I had empathy for their struggles and loss. So this meant I was drawn in to the story. Well acted, and written for short episodes of 22 minutes each (typical sitcom without commercials). If you binge watch you're done in just under three hours. Definitely an "A" from my viewpoint.
