It's a refreshingly artful hybrid: cable brains spliced with network brawn.

Showtime's glorious thriller Homeland is full-body television: It sets pulses to racing, stomachs to churning, minds to strategizing.

It's a level of tension that should be completely unbearable, yet we cannot look away.

With the bar set at "Emmy," Homeland has little room to falter. With this return episode, it doesn't.

Mr. Lewis turned a traitor sympathetic, and Ms. Danes found the appeal in an unappealing heroine. Together the actors found chemistry in their characters' imbalances.

The whole second series has been less clever.

Without a doubt, Homeland is the best drama on TV right now.
