madi b @RT75587668 Oct 16 Horrible Histories is an iconic show. It creates interests in history due to its fun concepts and segments. The segments target all audiences, specifically young adults, as the way that the humour is delivered and how the segments are parodies of popular British shows ( 'X-Factor' and 'Come Dine with me'). This TV show raised me and has benefited me within history classes because of the songs and memorable episodes. You will never get tired of re-watching this show! See more Archie J @RT94977764 07/29/2024 A great way to teach young kids about history in a slice of life way See more Eri T @RT20108307 03/19/2023 "Horrible Histories" is a British sketch comedy TV series that brilliantly brings history to life with a humorous twist. Season 1 of the show, which aired in 2009, is a delightful introduction to the series, showcasing its clever writing, impressive production values, and talented cast. Each episode of the show focuses on a different period of history, from the Stone Age to World War II, and covers a wide range of topics within each era. The sketches are both educational and entertaining, making history accessible and enjoyable for viewers of all ages. What sets "Horrible Histories" apart from other historical shows is its irreverent humor. The show is not afraid to poke fun at the past and the people who lived through it, and the results are often hilarious. The cast is incredibly talented, bringing a wide range of comedic styles to their performances and making each sketch feel fresh and unique. One of the standout sketches from season 1 is "The Battle of Thermopylae," which tells the story of the famous battle between the Spartans and the Persians in a rap battle format. The sketch is both funny and informative, using modern music and language to make history relevant to a contemporary audience. Another memorable sketch is "Historical Apprentice," a parody of the popular reality TV show "The Apprentice" set in the court of Henry VIII. The sketch is a clever commentary on the cutthroat nature of court politics and the absurdity of modern reality TV. Overall, season 1 of "Horrible Histories" is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when history and comedy are combined. The show is a must-watch for anyone interested in learning about the past in a fun and engaging way. Highly recommended. See more Read all reviews
