This Netflix original series follows college football teams that aren't major programs and don't get much national attention. After a couple seasons of profiling recruits at East Mississippi Community College, which has won several NJCAA national titles, the reality series shifts its focus to Independence Community College. The Kansas school doesn't have the same type of gridiron pedigree as EMCC -- it's trying to rebound from more than a decade of losses -- but the players are dealing with many of the same challenges that the EMCC squad faced -- both on and off the field.

The series' great strength is its unswerving and extensive focus on one small junior-college football program. Go to Full Review

For those with a love of the game, this peek inside a premier small college program is a stimulating, singular all-access pass. Go to Full Review

I do not like American football. I do not understand American football. The college football system is the most bafflingly arcane thing of all time. And yet Last Chance U might be the best sports documentary series I have ever seen. Go to Full Review

03/20/2022 I'm a girl that watched this with my boyfriend and loved it! However it's very clear that the refs were against EMCC in every single game?! See more 08/01/2021 Was psyched to see this film, form the Bay Area, love football and the history of it from peewees to pro in the are. I'm old, but these kids are a different gen. Lot "F" words, typical behavior that they should be given, not earned. Didnt appreciate the anti "cops" are racist bit. It is what is. Love the coach. See more michael a @Vikesmike 03/18/2021 This is a great documentary, I would suggest watching it. However, after you watch it, you may not feel too good about the school, the coaches, the players, and the staff. Truly amazing to me is the amount of money spent on a Community College football team. This is NOT Division 1, or even Division 2, but community college?!? They play nine games all season and have four different uniforms, and tons of different appearal. I wonder if that money comes from the state? The Coach. He claims to be a Christian and says an Our Father before every pratice or game but then he shows us his real side, kicking and punching refs, swearing, and berating his players. It's like he watched a B-grade sports movie to learn how to coach. The Players: You just got another chance to live your dream if you work hard enough, and possible get back to a Division 1 school, or an outside chance to go to the NFL. Amazingly, they do not seem to detrmined to work hard enough though. Not to mention you get a FREE EDUCATION which most kids at that school (or any other) would kill for, but somehow you don't deem it important enough to care. Boggles the mind. Of course the education is pretty substandard too. They read a book (The Most Dangerous Game) that I had to read and do a report on in Junior High. Also, Community College seems less like an actual college and more like a two-year continuation of high school, with sports, and homecoming queens, and kids that don't want to go to class. The Staff: The lady who is their "Academic Advisor" is little more than a babysitter/mother who makes sure the go to class, "counsels" them on their bad habits, and gives them lots of hugs and tells them how much she loves them. Apparently the school pays this person to make sure their football team can stay on the field. Hey, guess what, fire her, let the kids fail on their own and tell them they can't play unless they go to class and pass. I think they might try then...but this way just seems unhelpful to these student atheletes. Plus it is a little creepy the ways she acts around the players, right? Overall, this is a somewhat disgusting look at the school using these kids to better their own worth, and what? Get a championship? Who cares about a Community College Football Championship? Its meaningless. And these guys go around acting like it's an actual league or something. Perpetuating their self-worth if one of them get an offer to go to a real school. Weird. The coach even touts his Championship ring all the time. HAHAHAHAHA. What a joke. Who gets a diamond ring for a community college league. hahahahahaha. But good Netflix binge series. See more 08/10/2020 What a great and bingeworthy netflix show. This is probably the best season since things go so well for them. Makes you really hate head coaches and realize how dumb football players are. Yikes, these guys go on to make millions of dollars. No wonder most of them are broke within two years. See more 10/04/2017 Stephens should be fired and banned from ever coaching. The coaches make a mockery of concussions and do not regard them for the permant and detrimental effects they cause. The show is a disgrace to football. See more 08/11/2017 Excellent and introspective. See more Read all reviews
