The first two hours are focused more on this angle, which made them less compelling for me. The second two are about a genius bringing the threads of his work together, and more efficiently rendered. Go to Full Review

The heart of Burns’ documentary, though, is the meticulous quest to understand da Vinci’s creative thought process and his scientific curiosity. Go to Full Review
Mark Feeney Boston Globe 11/18/2024
Given such astonishing material, Ken Burns -- of all people -- feels the need to hype it up. The temptation is understandable. The giving in to it is not. Go to Full Review

Leonardo Da Vinci breathes new life into the artist’s legend; Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and David McMahon have painted a pretty complete picture of a man who was much more than the sum of his most famous works. Go to Full Review

While Leonardo da Vinci is best when it digs into why his artworks are so important and magnificent, I would have liked to have learned more about his inventions and some of his lesser-known professional pursuits. Go to Full Review

Barbara J @RT68480780 Sep 30 Great series, but shows that use subtitles while people speak in their native lalnguage does not work for my BLIND husband. PLEASE have someone speak english, even with an accent, to assist people with vision problems. This seems to be happening on many shows lately and it make them unwatchable unless I read all the subtitles out loud for my husband. We tipically just abandon the show as it's too difficult for me to enjoy while reading subtitles quickly. I understand the makers probably feel it adds to the authenticity but please consider the vision impaired. See more C T @RT89813516 01/20/2025 I wanted to like this series more. I admire Leonardo, for the Last Supper, painting. He was an artistic genius, who survived in a hostile intolerant world. This series seemed to meander from one narrator/expert historian to another, with close up of Leonardo art works. This got tiresome. I wanted more live action photos of where Leonardo lived. I wanted a live narrator, who was onsight in Europe. I wanted more. See more Joan K @RT74047805 11/26/2024 Really disappointed in this one since I’ve watched many other Ken Burns documentaries and enjoyed them. The split screen thing with sometimes seemingly random images was distracting and somewhat annoying. I don’t even think we’ll want to watch to the end See more Peter K @Vacadoug 11/24/2024 Great documentary by the venerable Ken Burns; my only issue with this series was the subtitling during some interviews: light letters against a light back-round made it hard to decipher. See more jml 4 @RT87526591 11/24/2024 Not as riveting as the usual Burns doc's. There was something about it that was heavy, leaden, difficult to watch. My mind kept wandering...
