This kind of standalone episode could never have worked without a strong, charismatic performance at its centre and Chung delivered that, capturing our attention and even our loyalty within moments of appearing on screen.

The fact that I go into each episode of Lovecraft with no idea what might happen, what genre it might be, or whose POV we'll follow, is a feature, not a bug... As change-ups go, "Meet Me in Daegu" is an impressive one.

As a standalone piece it was great, but as a stepping stone in the story of Tic (who, at this point, has proven himself to be the weakest character in the series as well), well, I don't care all that much.

For an episode that didn't include Atticus (Jonathan Majors) for the first 30 minutes and only a glimpse of Leti (Jurnee Smollett) the latest installment of Lovecraft Country, titled "Meet Me in Daegu," was beyond riveting.
