The Medal of Honor is the military's highest award for valor, and it has been bestowed upon just a few thousand Americans since President Abraham Lincoln signed it into law in 1861. "Medal of Honor" profiles some of the select few who have received the medal, with family members and brothers-in-arms recalling the extraordinary odds the servicemen faced. Viewers get inside the recipients' minds -- through intense re-creations and archival footage -- to uncover how they handled what many have described as "the worst day of their lives." The men profiled include World War II veteran Sylvester Antolak and Joseph Vittori, who fought in the Korean War.

It's an ode to service, but more that that, it's a testament to empathy. The show finds a way to honor its subjects without becoming self-congratulatory. Go to Full Review

Ojas D @RT89755449 11/08/2023 Incredible emotion, amazing renactment and special effects. This show gives you the full range of emotion of these heroes... See more 01/24/2021 the documentary with commentary is well made, however if one reads his Medal of Honour citation, the documentary got it all wrong. yes he was heroic and he stood his ground, however it mentions nothing about his fellow soldiers being executed when accepting prisoners, and he was supported by soldiers and he changed positions quite a few times while covering their retreats. vito's citation reads totally different to the documentary. See more 12/30/2019 This show is ok. Nothing special compared to all the similar documentaries etc out there. A different view, already done to death on youtube. But it's ok. Definitely not bad. What pisses me off tho, throughout at least this first episode that I've watched, is the people they interview. Well. Specifically this medal of honor recipient they interview. He is a stupid grunt that got lucky with superior equiptment against some cavedwellers hiding from IR cam type attack helicopters and drones. His accomplishments are nothing. Being a part of the American army and going to Iraq or whatever country "has WMDs" or whatever other lie USA conjures up... these days, are like playing a FPS game on ultra-mega-superduper easy with cheats. I am not impressed. I am more impressed if the enemies they fight manage to do something heroic agains this superior force that can strike death from above at any moment. However, what I just stated here, is a subjective opinion. And I have another one for you about this medal of honor interviewee-guy. I wish he would just shut the f### up! The other people they interview use words like "likey", "probably", "possibly" etc. This guy just say "This is the exact thing this guy was thinking. And he did this. And he did that. And he thought this to himself." etc etc etc. Now... just one question in regards to that.... HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU GRUNT PIECE OF HIST!? YOU WERE _NOT_ THERE! YOU ARE NOT HIM! YOU ARE NOT IN HIS HEAD! JUST SHUT YOUR STUPID SELF THE F### UP!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING, AND CRAP OUT STATEMENTS LIKE YOU'RE THE EXPERT ON THE EXACT THOUGHTS A MAN HAD 70 YEARS AGO. LIKE THEY TRANSFERED HIS BRAIN TO YOU UPON DEATH! THIS IS NOT THE CASE - AND YOU KNOW NOTHING! SO SHUT THE F### UP!!!!!! Man, honestly this guy pisses me off. I'd like to know exactly what the F he did that's so special, apart from trying to sneak in subtle brags about his own medal when the show is about someone else. Go eat a purple heart. Then get some more, and eat those too. See more 08/28/2019 A lot of American documentaries have a strong heavy handed bias, this has this, however it delivers an accurate and critical look at these Hero's Stories. Of all the episodes, the third makes it shine brighter than any other that I've seen. A critical, respectful and memorable episode that conveys the true story of SSG Carter in a way that doesn't paint the army as fully "evil" as many do when it comes to the issue of past racism in the 20th century. The dramatization is realistic, not super over the top. Respectful and historically accurate. Testimonies and interviews are perfectly mixed with archive footage. Overall Medal of Honor is a fantastic documentary that tells the stories in a respectful way and without falling into the common trap of being overly patriotic or overly critical.
