The animation is splendid, and, of course, the characters retain their charm, with veteran actor Jim Cummings returning to voice Tigger and Pooh. Go to Full Review

10/17/2021 As a die-heart Winnie the Pooh fan, I tried to give My Friends Tigger and Pooh a chance. But unfortunately it didn't work for long. I've watched 6 episodes of this season and I just started getting bored to death and sometimes bothered by everything wrong with this show. First off, Winnie the Pooh already became targeted for preschool audiences since the early to mid 80's. But Disney kept Winnie the Pooh enjoyable for kids and adults mostly regarding the classic New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh series in 1988 and even the more strictly educational Welcome to Pooh Corner series in 1983. And then as time continued, there were quite a few movies and television specials that continued the legacy of Winnie the Pooh which honestly kept Winnie the Pooh from becoming mediocrely produced. So it's not like I'm bashing a show that isn't meant for die-heart Disney fans to watch when it was already based off of something targeted to kid audiences in the first place. The first problem I have with this show is obviously Darby. She is a new character who basically replaces the role of Christopher Robin. Darby is that one lead character breaking the fourth wall constantly so children can watch this show interactively. This was really unnecessary and makes her character straight-up annoying. We have her and her dog Buster constantly leading every episode of the show trying to solve mysteries with Tigger and Pooh as the "Super Sleuths". It ruins the point of Winnie the Pooh overall and her character does the same exact thing in every episode. The second problem is how watered down the other characters are in this show. For some reason Owl doesn't exist at all in this show like why did they not include Owl? Gopher never appears either and instead was replaced with Beaver who has no joke in his character whatsoever. Christopher Robin actually does appear in the show but it's super rare. And because of the show's annoying solving mysteries plot device the characters that are in this show are usually out of character. Pooh and Tigger are known as the Super Sleuths which downgrade their character, Piglet isn't as afraid, Rabbit isn't seen as bossy, and Eeyore isn't as depressed. We barely get moments with Roo and Tigger together, Lumpy barely does much, and Kanga and Moma Heffalaump are usually pushed off to the side. We have also have new characters like the porcupine which doesn't have any character at all. There's not many moments like Tigger sabotaging Rabbit's garden, Eeyore's house getting crushed, or Winnie the Pooh being chased by bees. It's like this show has to keep everything downright lame. Characters never develop in this show and they all kind of feel the same. The third problem is the animation. Playhouse Disney in the mid 2000's switched to CGI which looks uncanny for Winnie the Pooh. The backgrounds are okay, atleast most of time. Sometimes the textures like on the grass or on wood from a door looks too blurry. But the 3D models don't look right on the characters. Winnie the Pooh is one of Disney's traditional animated characters that honestly doesn't work in CGI. The characters look very stale and have a lot of jolting in the movements here, especially with Rabbit. Sometimes the lighting is even noticeably off which looks like somebody in the animation studio didn't finish the process. Winnie the Pooh shouldn't be in CGI unless if it's the exception of a video game like Kingdom Hearts. My fourth problem is the voice acting. It may be the least but there are some noticeable issues with the voices. I wasn't expecting Darby to be voiced by Chloe Grace Mortez but that's not really a problem. Winnie the Pooh and Tigger sound fine since they are still voiced by Jim Cummings. Eeyore, Rabbit, and Kanga are fine as well since Peter Cullen, Ken Sansom, and Kath Soucie reprise their roles as well. However Piglet is now voiced by Travis Oates due to the passing of John Fielder in 2005. Piglet sounds very raspy with the new voice actor. Now I do know he voiced Piglet in the 2011 Winnie the Pooh movie but it sounded like he had more time to master the role during that era. Roo and Lumpy are okay along with the rest. But Piglet is just noticeably off and it's really distracting. And my last problem is the occasional songs we get in the series. They just sound too modernized. The theme song isn't too bad but it sounds too childish compared to the theme from New Adventures. The rest are just mediocre because of the modernized instrumental and lowdown lyrics. So there you have it. I will say My Friends Tigger and Pooh is still better than the majority of children's shows that came on Disney Junior later on in the 2010's but it's still not worth anyone's time if you're above the ages 6-8. I rather recommend watching The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh if you want to see a classic Winnie the Pooh television series that actually focuses on Pooh and his friends respectively.
