The cult classic TV show is back! Comic Jonah Ray plays the role of Jonah Heston, a hapless human who is forced by evil scientists to endure a vault of cheesy movies. Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day) is the daughter of the original mad scientist, Dr. Clayton Forrester, and Patton Oswalt plays the son of Clayton's former henchman. In hopes of holding onto his sanity, Jonah watches the films with his hilarious robot companions. Together, the "B" movie audience members crack snarky jokes as the action plays out on screen.

Just as it took the original MST3K a season to perfect its formula, so too did this reboot require a bit of time to make some necessary adjustments. Go to Full Review

Jonah's finding a strong dynamic with the Bots, the riffs are tighter, and the shorter episode order allows for a more eclectic (if uneven) batch of enjoyably bad movies. Go to Full Review

In a move mimicking the casual nonchalance of the original show's attitude toward its overarching plots, it completely hand-waved away the climactic resolution of season eleven. Go to Full Review

The movies are a good selection for the most part. They were able to pick six movies that have very little to do with each other. A very nice variety, all things considered. Go to Full Review

The Gauntlet is confident to exist in its own world. It's a season that's surer and as a result funnier than the one before. Go to Full Review

12/31/2019 Great season, it definitely needs a third season. See more y c @RT01118071 02/21/2019 Soooo great...some classics, Mac and Me and The Day Time Ended are classics...only negative thing is that there aren't more episodes...only six...come on Netflix! See more 02/18/2019 The show keeps getting better and better. Season 2 was even better than the rebooted season one. They slowed down the riff's per minute and just concentrated and making long lasting riffs and it makes all the difference. Netflix needs to confirm a season 3 already so I can relax. See more bryan c @RT81598102 12/17/2018 Great second (first?) season. Jonah and the Bots have grown confortable with each other. The movies were great (except for Experiment 1202 Atlantic Rim. That one was difficult to get through, even with the riffs. I hope they stay away from Asylum movies in the future. Most of them have nothing redeemable no matter how funy the riffs are. My rankings: Mac & Me, Ator, The Day Time Ended, Lords of the Deep, Killer Fish, Atlantic Rim See more 12/05/2018 Another funny season. Again, the MST3K revival has gotten a higher quality of bad movies. I mean none of them are good, but there aren't any real snoozers or truly painful ones that would occasionally pop up in the original series. Unfortunately, the number of episodes has been cut in half this season. This season is called the Gauntlet and it practically dares you to binge watch it as the story involves Dr. Kinga Forrester forcing Jonah and the bots to watch the movies in direct succession. Although, sub-plotting isn't quite as ambitious as last season, this season does have some fun overarching story elements. I appreciate how the new show has expanded the world a bit. The robots Jonah built last season, including one with full hands that can play the piano like Rowlf the dog, are now regulars on Satellite of Love. Kinga's moon base, rather than manned by two or three people like the original show, continues to feel like it's fully operated as we get to see more of her crew, including a couple new quirky faces. If you're worried about change, be assured that the focus is still on Jonah and the bots and Max and KInga. The formula is adapted but not destroyed. Sets and spaceship props remain strong, giving off of sort of an adult Pee-Wee's Playhouse feel. I'm glad that the bots' mean-spiritedness from the last season is toned down, but the writers still don't do enough to differentiate Crow and Tom Servo's personalities. I'm also disappointed that the host segments are so short, especially since they don't need to worry about time constraints on Netflix and the segments are even briefer than the ones in the later years of the original show. See more 12/02/2018 Gotten better and better. But just Six episodes? Is there going to be a gauntlet part 2? C'mon Netfix this is probably the lowest budget successful show you have going. And those who watch want more than this..... See more Read all reviews
