How white-bread sitcom-y and trite can you get? Plenty, it turns out, but something in the chemistry and occasional solid joke grows on you. If that keeps up it could be a keeper.

Despite the stereotypical sitcom situation, ABC's latest attempt to program the half-hour after The Drew Carey Show fares better than last fall's stinker, The Secret Lives of Men.

Some funny stuff, but there are far too many gay jokes and, as a result, the character ends up a one-dimensional punchline. Given some time to mature, however, this sitcom has a shot.

Oh Grow Up is a great admonition, a lousy sitcom. I hope ABC will remember it next time it considers making another show as silly and juvenile.

Why didn't I hate it? Because somehow the characters are likable, especially Alan Basche as the artist. Oddly enough, this might grow on you.

A DOG named Mom whose barks are subtitled (with exclamation points!!!!) is but one of the predictable characters in "Oh Grow Up," a wannabe comedy about three guys sharing a Brooklyn brownstone.

The show as a whole isn't that bad, but it certainly isn't good. The actors do the best they can with inferior material, but there isn't much you can do with weak writing.
