This is a show that rarely takes its time. Watching things escalate from tiny misunderstandings to disasters threatening to destroy a city or reconstitute the fabric of timespace is this show's sweet spot. Go to Full Review

Whereas Rick and Morty is a ragtag exploration of nihilism and feelings of personal insignificance, Solar Opposites. has a sunnier, but equally inquisitive, outlook. Which, in these weird, weird times, will likely be deeply appreciated by viewers. Go to Full Review

Solar Opposites proves to be more about leaning into slapstick abandon than finding anything particularly revelatory to say beyond the fact that humans are pretty weird and annoying (which, well, is fair enough). Go to Full Review

Solar Opposites is an amazing addition to the Hulu original slate of shows. Go to Full Review

Solar Opposites is to Rick And Morty as Luke Wilson is to Owen Wilson, or Liam Hemsworth to Chris Hemsworth: perfectly likeable, if considerably less memorable or successful (so far). But it's well written and actually easier to watch. Go to Full Review

Solar Opposites just puts the ugly, upsetting thing on the table and leaves you to pay attention to it or ignore it. That choice is, in and of itself, a part of what the show's going for. Go to Full Review

Tjerk v Jan 9 Don't get the good reviews. It isn't interesting and it isn't funny. See more David W @Sternhammer Jan 5 Hilarious scripting, great animation and superb voice acting. Made me laugh out loud and precious few comedies let alone animated series do that. Not for younger kids due to the content and language though. See more Raishin B Sep 30 Couldn't even get past the first episode with how lame, dry, and stupid it is. The humor is for people who shut their brain off and just want to laugh on a queue with obvious jokes lined up. Unserious characters with no real personalities except for the sake of humor with zero build up doesn't entertain me but it might if you have a drunk and high person with ADHD watching. See more g j Aug 1 The characters are grating and annoying, and it just isn't particularly funny. Compares very poorly indeed with Rick & Morty. The animation is also identical to R&M, which may or may not work for you. Bizarrely, the B-plot about shrunken people in the wall display is FAR better written, and far more compelling than the main narrative. See more Thomas N @SleepingDuke Jun 8 Anarchic, socially sharp, and riotously entertaining With Solar Opposites, co-creator Justin Roiland (of Rick and Morty fame) launches a sci-fi satire that doesn’t merely emulate the irreverent tone of The Simpsons or Family Guy—it gleefully dissects American suburbia with a scalpel sharpened by absurdity and social critique. Season 1 is a relentless barrage of adult humor, cultural lampooning, and sci-fi mayhem, wrapped in a deceptively colorful animated shell. The core premise—aliens stranded on Earth and struggling to integrate into human society—feels like familiar terrain, but the execution is wildly original. The juxtaposition of hyperviolent slapstick, existential dread, and biting commentary on consumerism, education, and groupthink is not just funny—it’s incisive. Korvo and Terry, the show’s central alien duo, are more than caricatures of the alien outsider trope; their dysfunctions mirror those of the society they observe. Meanwhile, the show’s subplot—the now infamous “Wall” storyline—emerges as a dystopian microcosm that rivals even the main plot in narrative sophistication and moral ambiguity. What makes Solar Opposites Season 1 exceptional is its confidence. It doesn’t pander. It doesn’t apologize. It weaponizes its absurdity, and in doing so, delivers one of the most unexpected and intelligent comedies in recent animation. If you like your humor caustic, your science fiction unhinged, and your satire razor-sharp, Season 1 of Solar Opposites is a must-watch. See more Kevin P 01/21/2025 Crass and childish, but nevertheless a fun and creative sitcom that gave me a fun ride and charismatic cast of characters. “The Wall” subplot is easily the best part, while the rest of the show has some growing pains to kink out.
