Critic Consensus: Though it's a little late in the game for more plot set-up, "The Separation of Crows" works on an emotional level as Jax laments his actions.

Critic reviews for The Separation of Crows
It's no less than brilliant to have Jax lament that the Sons are losing the war, at least for the moment, because they have stronger family values.
"The Separation of Crows" was chock full of emotional moments, and most of them worked.
These disparate storylines, mostly revolving around the neutralization of one threat and the antagonizing of another, have become incredibly familiar by now.
My oh my, things are getting interesting. I'm not sure it's good interesting, but it's interesting.
"The Separation of Crows" seemed primed for further shocking developments. Strangely, the episode merely rehashes much of the same ground, biding time until the bloody series finale and leaving viewers in a state of disorientation.
