It is a surprise just how much seeing Picard, Riker and Troi together again stirs your emotions, with the full weight of the character's histories together being put to great effect.

I loved the return of Frakes/Riker and Sirtis/Troi not just because of the nostalgia factor, but because it helped us understand why Picard didn't just call up all his old (living) crew to help him on his latest adventure.
