"Fort Rozz" uses gender swapping themes, character detailing, and humor to build towards its big climax.
Tonight is the Girls Trip episode of Supergirl, only without all the laughs.
Fort Rozz continued Supergirl's somewhat lackluster return from the winter break. This could have worked, but got undone by some weird decisions.
Tonight's episode of Supergirl takes girl power to a whole new level. Literally.
Too often...you either have to be deadly serious... or you have to be goofy as hell... But last night Supergirl blended the two tones, and while it wasn't always good, it worked much, much better than it had any right to.
"Fort Rozz" took some time to build steam, but by the time the climax rolled around this episode was firing on all cylinders.
Women front and center. Supergirl's true strengths on display. A sacrifice and a little old-fashioned Winn-genuity. Yep, this episode was hotter than a blue star.
Supergirl headed out to a place poisonous to men while the show made some character adjustments.
Overall, I enjoyed "Fort Rozz". It let Supergirl be Supergirl again and sprinkled plenty of humor amid the pontificating. However, a certain plot development puts a major damper on the episode.
Unfortunately, there was lots of lead-in, but very little payoff.
"Fort Rozz" gender swaps the usual dynamics of a live action superhero story and offers both male and female viewers a chance to experience how the other half lives.
