If the last two hours went the extra mile in trying to get fans to shed a few tears, they also reinforced why the series had reached the point where it was clearly time to fly off into the sunset. Go to Full Review

It's quite a hurdle, and while Supergirl doesn't exactly leap it in a single bound, there are at least some interesting long-term storytelling ideas nestled in this rather clunky start to the season. Go to Full Review

Celebrate Melissa Benoist's time in the cape and bid farewell to her beloved portrayal of the Girl of Steel with this final season that brings her super journey to a fitting end. Go to Full Review

The series finale isn't action packed, but it ends on the exact note it was always meant to. It leans leans into every aspect that show's detractors ever called it weak for, and it's all the stronger because of it. Go to Full Review

Overall, it felt like a season finale at its finest. It had the right balance of action, sentimental moments, conclusions to storylines, and proper setup for the future. Go to Full Review

People need people because, after all, we're stronger together. I can't think of a better message for Supergirl to, once again, instill in its characters and us as it begins its final season. Go to Full Review

The first half has a few weak episodes, then it gets back on track and soars to new heights, but keeps losing its grip every now and then. It has quite a few stellar moments though and the series finale is very satisfying. Overall, this season should have been much better, but it's definitely worth watching. Yet after all the hope and inspiration there's still many dangers to face A prisoner named Nyxly from the 5th dimension escapes from the Phantom Zone invading Nia's dreams, Nia's powers are evolving and she's desperately seeking guidance from her deceased mother Myxlptzlx returns to help stop Nyxly while also laying out the dark history of them both while being in the 5th Dimension Nyxly is also after several artifacts called totems that'll allow her to harness magic and wipe everything out to her own needs Kelly also decides to step up on the team and take on James' role as Guardian, Alex then prepares to take her relationship to the next level adopting a little girl alien Esme and proposing to Kelly Meanwhile Lena is off to find out her family roots by finding more about her birth mother, Elizabeth Walsh but in New Foundland it turns out Lena's mother was married involved in some dark, evil things This season deals with affordable income housing, how one voice on social media can influence and spark a revolution, gentrification, defending the disenfranchised, and fighting for those stuck in racial trauma for so long losing faith in the system and the police force Supergirl faces some of the biggest challenges internally to inspire hope, courage, hope, humanity, truth, destiny, and love The series finale leads to Nyxly and Lex giving it their all but also Kara and the others calling the rest of humanity to pitch in and an endless reunion of past players coming into the foray Sure the final battle could've ended on such a higher note but it shows how much Supergirl has inspired the whole world with unending compassion and heart The heart isn't logical, when things seem dark that's when we are needed the most, living with fragments of people we love pales in comparison to losing them entirely, the system most of the time doesn't care about criminals but others still can, politicians don't care about anything other than their ambition, personal experience resonates with people and inspires them, the fight for systemic change is never ending all we can do is show up, where is the outrage when people suffering aren't grabbing our attention?, at times when we need help we feel like we are shouting into a void, certain people are still so concerned with themselves and their own ambition, over time the hate and anger being put aside gets exhausting, you will miss things because others are part of your own experience, we need to hear each other more, guilt isn't about what you do next but more about changing how you go forward, things are better now yet discrimination and racism still carry generational scars that we still need to work on, we can't cross lines in darkness in the name of good, people and nations should be self-determining, no one can take away your hope and love After 6 seasons it's disheartening to see one of my favorite superhero programs leave the air after so much enjoyment I've loved Melissa Benoist from the start donning the cape of Superman's Kryptonian cousin, she's brought so much light, positivity, and hope to bringing this comic book heroine to life The creators redeemed themselves by bringing more of her adventures to the small screen after almost tarnishing her image in the 1984 movie But there were still lots of nods, references, and Easter eggs for fans of the Superman franchise to gobble up Heroes, allies, and villains were abound in every episode delivering new plot lines, compelling drama, and important life messages we can take away from The crossovers were endlessly enjoyable too Supergirl is the beacon of hope for a new generation of fans and comic book lovers and I'm so happy this show gave me something to look forward to every week with excitement, laughs, tears, big battles, and having a female heroine stand for our biggest needs of hope and light I would've loved the final scene to be explored more considering Kara has to be her true self for everyone but still, Supergirl inspires us to be our best for the future having us be our own hero to continue the work to make the world better Thank you so much CW for this TV version of the Girl of Steel Supergirl you will be missed forever… See more Read all reviews
