This YA series is just that and nothing more. Getting another season seems like overkill at this point. Go to Full Review

While the middle of Surviving Summer Season 2 is weighed down by too many characters and too little surfing, there’s enough drama to keep things going until it all comes together in the end. Go to Full Review

The beautiful scenery and multi-layered characters help to elevate the romantic and sports rivalries that fill out this teen drama. Go to Full Review

[Filled] with gloss and energy … I’d be raving about it to my mates at school, if my high-school days weren’t (mumblemumble) years ago. It's determinedly escapist and full of committed performances. Go to Full Review

Timon B @Timon Aug 8 Fantastic season! Better than the first! I was so sad when they announced there would not be a third season. See more BRizz 2 @TheMovieSearch Jul 6 Surviving Summer returns for its second season with more sun-soaked drama, emotional growth, and high-stakes surfing competitions. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Australia’s coastline, this teen series continues to deliver a refreshing blend of relationships, rivalry, and resilience. Season two follows in the footsteps of the first, offering a story that feels like a mix between Outer Banks and Blue Water High—minus the treasure hunts and over-the-top twists. Instead, we get a grounded portrayal of teen surfers navigating life, love, competition, and personal struggles. Sky Katz reprises her role as Summer Torres, and while her performance captures the character’s wild, rebellious spirit, Summer can at times come off a bit immature and erratic. That said, Katz’s energy and charisma help anchor the ensemble and keep things moving forward. Kai Lewins returns as Ari Gibson, and this season delves deeper into his battle with anxiety and panic attacks. While the portrayal is honest, it occasionally leans into melodrama. Nonetheless, Lewins gives a layered and thoughtful performance that adds emotional depth. A major highlight of this season is the unexpected bully storyline, which adds a compelling layer to the show’s usual coming-of-age themes. Watching the group navigate this challenge adds realism and weight, showing how competition and friendship collide in high-pressure environments. Josh MacQueen shines as Bodhi “Baxter” Mercer, emerging as a fan favorite. His grounded yet vibrant energy brings balance to the more emotionally intense arcs. He’s deeply invested in the story, and it shows. Here’s hoping he has an even more pivotal role in season three. As for the supporting cast: • Annabel Wolfe as Wren Radic is as fiery as ever, and a return in season three could further complicate Summer’s journey—in all the right ways. • Lilliana Bowrey (as Poppy Tetanui), João Gabriel Marinho (as Marlon Sousa), and Savannah La Rain (as Bodhi Mercer) also bring strong supporting performances and help round out the ensemble with authenticity and charm. The cinematography, direction, and pacing keep the tone breezy yet emotionally engaging. Surviving Summer succeeds in creating a binge-worthy experience while maintaining grounded storytelling that teens and older viewers alike can enjoy. ⸻ Final Verdict: A heartfelt and visually beautiful continuation that brings its characters forward while staying true to its laid-back spirit. Season two may feel more emotionally charged, but it never loses the adventurous, sunlit tone that made the first season work. Bring on season three! See more Summer 10/15/2024 Ok, so i love this show. LOVE IT. Hoping for a season 3! Anyway, it’s not the most appropriate for under 13. See more Sarah Z 09/22/2023 More interesting than season one. See more Carolin S 09/22/2023 A charismatic cast, beautiful landscape & an overall positive Down Under vibe makes this series a must-watch for every child/teen that is into surfing or just dreams of spending a summer in Australia!
