With the series' feminist bona fides built on shaky ground, what's left is a parade of dead-eyed humans reciting the horrors they've experienced for the umpteenth time. Go to Full Review

Overflowing with historical content, and providing stunning access to historical documentation and staggeringly strong human beings, the film never shies away from the unspeakable facts surrounding its story. But it also never wallows in them. Go to Full Review

Falling for a Killer still remains a necessary intervention, charting how to tell a victim-centered story and resist the myths that surround the popular notion of the "serial killer," myths that have been repeated so often that they become powerful. Go to Full Review

True-crime obsessives, take note. Falling for a Killer may have a soap-operatic title, but so far, it promises to be a refreshing iteration of the Ted Bundy saga. Go to Full Review

misty h 07/28/2022 The people that do not get the correlation between Ted Bundy and the political/feminist climate at the time astound me. Women were taught submit to men, to be helpful, to ‘lay there and take it during rape'. Bundy preyed upon that. And in a world where women were just feeling liberated, the Bundy killings set that feeling back. Even during the trials, Bundy was given more credence than the actual victims. Even to this day, he is glorified and the victims as a whole are forgotten. After he was found guilty, the judge actually says to him ‘you are an impressive young man and I would have loved to see you as a lawyer but you chose a different path, I wish you the best'. Like what?! It goes to show how much more a murderers/rapist life is valued over the life of actual women victims. And is it really a stretch that the misogyny in the US at the time would be the perfect breeding ground for a man like Ted Bundy? I thought this documentary was extremely well done and thought provoking. It focuses more on the women affected by his horrendous crimes which, in my opinion, is long overdue. See more 11/03/2021 I really wanted to like it, but it wasn't what it advertised itself to be. If I wanted to watch a documentary about feminism in the 70's I would! But this was a bait and switch, where the topic took up several minutes per episode and was not relevant to the victims or the people the documentary claims to be about. These segments were also biased in ways that at least half of feminists would disagree with. Otherwise it had a lot of new and interesting interviews; I don't necessarily recommend it, but I at least appreciated the portions regarding Liz, Molly, or the murdered victims. See more 10/20/2021 This documentary is about the women who are left who were affected by Ted Buddy, not so much about Buddy himself. It's an attempt to tell their story. As such the viewer does need to understand where women were placed in society at the time and how they were expected to behave - and how few men believed in their word or abilities. Yes, early on the feminist leanings don't really seem to apply to the story that is being told and some of it could have been left out. But, all in all, it's an interesting view on a well known story and I loved hearing from his long time girlfriend and her daughter about their experience. See more 09/19/2021 Extremely boring to watch. The documentary barely spends any time on Bundy or how he did things. It's all mostly about uninteresting secondary characters and other unimportant things You can skip almost the entire first episode and big chunks of each other episode, because they show and discuss nothing but general, unimportant 70s stuff. Meanwhile they tell you almost nothing about the important main character that people want to know about. Some random horror movie that is loosely based on this story would actually teach you more about his character and how the actions were actually performed. See more 08/06/2020 Excellent, unique, crucial context and cultural narrative. The negative reviews on here hate it because it takes a feminist approach- unironically replicating Good Olde Ted. Their anger shows how effectively this documentary does its job. Excellent. See more 02/27/2020 This isn't so much a serial killer documentary, but a glaring feminist rag that tries to paint his insanity as a result of women gaining their independence in the 70s and deplorable patriarchy of American society. It's cringeworthy at best, and unwatchable at worst. See more Read all reviews
