While vacationing in Italy, Olympic figure skating champion Brian Boitano discovered his family once owned a home in the small village of Favale di Malvaro. Despite the property's lack of electricity and plumbing in addition to other formidable issues, Boitano decided to purchase it, with the goal of creating a summer villa for his friends and family to enjoy. This series captures that transformation taking place, including structural repairs and building a new kitchen with a banquette area, a dining room to complement the kitchen, and a living room with a handcrafted, freestanding fireplace. "I wanted to create a comfortable, relaxed look in the house," Boitano said. "Whenever my friends and relatives come to visit, I want them to feel at home."
