In the East Bay community of Antioch, CA the seniors at Deer Valley High School journey towards their futures in higher education amid the turmoil of a pandemic year. Higher education is the single most important step that young people can take to transform their lives. Yet, the national student-to-counselor ratio is 482:1. So even in the best of times, too many talented students in low-income communities are getting left behind. Deer Valley HS’s new college adviser, “Mr. Cam” is fighting to change that narrative. With exceptional passion and determination, he empowers the Class of 2021 to overcome the challenges they face while ceaselessly fighting for their dreams of a college degree.

What makes The Class most compelling is not any of the six students it follows but their guidance counselor, Mr. Cam. He’s the most constant presence throughout the series and the most affecting character. He’s the star. Go to Full Review

AXEL F @RT56174024 03/25/2025 Wow! what a show! I can't belive how amazing and engaging the first two episodes were from start to finish! Props to the whole cast and crew for working through those difficult times. Mr. Cam and all the students are just great! I can't wait for the next episodes! Also, those Jordans looked so cool on the red carpet... (If you know, you know) See more Lakisha R @RT49997450 03/23/2025 The first episode was so amazing and I am truly excited to watch them all. This was so needed as it brought light to what this pandemic did to our children, the world, and the hardship and possibility of them being left behind. Every child needs someone who truly cares and believes in them which is Mr. Cam. All the parents should be praising and thanking this young man for his dedication. I know I want to thank him personally for my COVID graduate 2020 mini me. She was giving up on even believing college was an option for her. See more Lenayah W @RT25733396 03/23/2025 This was truly such an amazing representation of raw emotions from different viewpoints of a lot of us during the pandemic. Being a student was scary, and not knowing how your future will pan out was overwhelming! So glad these students had an amazing advocate like Cam to help them reach their dreams and push them towards their potential! I can’t wait to see the rest! See more BAYBIZ E @RT66939117 03/23/2025 This is such a great story of resilience in a troubling moment in time. Because of the struggles Mr. Cam went through on his own road to college, i believe he was able to show these kids that the only thing that can stop you is you. The kids have struggles that would make most adults give up, and it was such a beautiful story of never giving up on yourself or your village, the people in your life. What a great production, and I can not wait to see the rest of the series. See more Isaiah N @RT78052014 03/22/2025 This show is truly inspiring, down to earth and real. I swear I saw myself in those kids. We need more stories like this to give us hope for the gravity of good work in lifting up the next generation. See more Seth R @RT68331147 03/21/2025 As a School Counselor in inner city Los Angeles this series brought to life the real challenges students, staff, and communities deal with. At the end of the day it takes caring adults that are invested in students future’s to listen to them and educate them on their opportunities to grown and follow through with goals they have. The Class brings you into real situations and I hope it sheds to light the needs of hiring more counselors and mental health professional into our school systems. I have already showed episode 1 to my 11th/12 grade College Career class and they are obsessed because it’s helping them process all the hopes & fears and thoughts they have about college. Amazing Series! Thanks for supporting students and counselors!!!! - Seth R See more Read all reviews
