Remember when The Great British Bake Off was a huge deal? Contestants became TV stars, and a binned baked Alaska made front page news. But these days it just hums along in the background. It’s sweet and pretty to look at, and that’ll do. Go to Full Review

BONITA L @bonitamay Nov 1 Paul used to be fun but he has lost all objectivity. The show was so bias free at the inception and now every season has a political angle that kills the purpose and the surprise. Jasmine is undoubtedly a deserving contestant but Paul's hyper focus on her perfection prevents him from seeing the equally skillful and talented artistic baking of other contestants. I loved watching this for years but I really can't enjoy it anymore. I am done. Including contestants with some life challenge is admirable if it doesn't influence every comment and decision the judges make. Prue has remained honest and fair but keeps being bullied by her counterpart who is clearly afraid of the truth. The obvious imperative to have a woman in the finals narrowed Paul's support and vote down to Jasmine so early in the competition it was irritating to say the least. And it mattered very little if he shifted far enough to award the final star baker to someone beside Jasmine. The spirit of fun and creativity was overshadowed leaving disappointment in its wake. Most of the bakers in prior seasons are relatable with various quirks and charm but this mix is hard to get that next door neighbor vibe. I got the impression that Paul was searching for positivity in a pool of mediocrity. See more Read all reviews
