The Handmaid's Tale's third season reigns in its horrors and inspires hope that revolution really is possible -- if only the story would stop spinning its wheels and get to it already.

Rarely are lighting, design and music so privileged over dialogue.

June -- trapped in her sequence of shock, rebellion, rinse, repeat -- doesn't feel like a person anymore.

If not much sunnier, not as relentlessly grim as the second, while June is slowly, methodically, morphing into the Robo-June we know she must become. So far, so good.

What's obvious about "The Handmaid's Tale" works wonders. What's more opaque can create problems.

Sheesh but it's good: Margaret Atwood's characters have taken on a life of their own way past the book, which is surely the bellwether of any decent dys- or utopia.

The show needs a little less conversation and a little more action, please.

If the show wants to be known as more than a white feminist dystopia, it has to do better.

Hulu's landmark show has veered from illuminating, cathartic and misery porn over the past two seasons. Season three of the show thankfully offers something new: hope.

Jun 11, 2019 | Rating: 3.5/4 | Full Review…

The newly arrived season three appears to lack a sense of direction, spending an inordinate amount of time on close-ups of its heroine's alternately inscrutable, furious or resolute face.

Jun 17, 2019 | Full Review…

The Handmaid's Tale is vicious, gripping, biting, political drama at its best, but I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that this is a show that hates America. It's a wonder there's not more fuss.

great episode , now on to the revolution

Too many long boring sequences. Very challenging to watch... meaning it is so hard to keep going.

So much fun to watch the strategies all employ to stay alive

I keep watching and keep hoping we get beyond close camera shots of the faces of the main characters. Will something ever happen to capture my interest?!

I'm not sure why the audience score is so low this season. So far I think it is the best season yet. Things are finally moving forward and we are seeing more of how fragile Gilead is becoming. We aren't just trapped in a room waiting for June to get pregnant. Hopefully my score helps the score move up a bit.

Next time the show goes for U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday better be for a worthy reason...and not the same old reaction face June keeps on bringing.

Should have ended at season 2.
  • Jun 13, 2019
    Season 3 is pretty awful.
  • Jun 13, 2019
Third season is soooooo bad and unbeleivable not going to bother watching anymore. Can't undersand it getting such a high score still
  • Jun 12, 2019
Great story of the US being taken over by a right wing religious Christian like cult enforcing Taliban-like oppression of women almost completely ruined by the unnecessary sloooow, self indulgent pace. A better title would be "The Handmaid's Snail."
