Amanda J @RT65192740 May 16 A strange and compelling mix of music, comedy, and heartfelt yearning and friendship. Alex writes himself being bullied by a comedy who's-who of guest appearances, a storyline freewheels across episodes that are dumb and shallow and also three layers deep with meaning, metaphor, and risque humor that the kids won't pick up on. It's bonkers, fun, and the music is more catchy than it has any right to be. See more Sarah A @RT76544161 May 16 I wasn't really sure what to expect when I first watched this. I have listened to a few of The Horne Section's songs and know that they're excellent musicians (except Alex, sorry hon). I also am a massive fan of Alex Horne so I thought I would probably like this even if just to stare at him (I have a crush, sue me) but I thought it was excellent. You know those shows that you can just rewatch over and over again, comfort shows I call them, well this has rapidly become that. It gives you a bit of a dive into Alex's brain and all his insecurities and the band are hilarious. I think it's fair to say their acting abilities are varied but this is part of what makes it. It's not laugh out loud ha ha comedy but it's warm, friendly, and gentle and I loved it. See more Tasha T @RT26414377 May 16 Multilayered silliness and surreal charm. A wildly inventive blend of music, satire, and absurd humour, it's led by Alex Horne and his brilliantly chaotic band - Mark Brown, Joe Auckland, Ed Sheldrake, Will Collier, and Ben Reynolds. This genre-bending series dances between sketch, sitcom, and surreal variety show, all wrapped in a jazzy bow of musical madness. What sets it apart is its pitch-perfect mix of catchy tunes, sharp satire, and delightfully unhinged comedy. Whether it's poking fun at TV tropes, breaking the fourth wall with wild glee, or slipping a ridiculous joke into a genuinely great song, the show never misses a beat. The result is a deeply meta, joyously unpretentious watch that feels fresh, unpredictable, and truly one of a kind. With guest stars from comedy and music royalty, The Horne Section TV Show is clever without being smug, silly without being dumb - a rare and glorious balance. For fans of Taskmaster or anyone craving a new twist on British comedy, this is essential viewing. See more Read all reviews
