Tv Season Info

The second season of this post-apocalyptic drama finds the crew of the USS Nathan James encountering both old and new obstacles in their plight to save humanity from the deadly virus that has already wiped out much of the world's population. With Amy Granderson (Alfre Woodard) and her soldiers having captured many of the crew members and taken control of the ship, Cdr. Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) and his remaining men find an unlikely ally in Thorwald (Titus Welliver), a mysterious underground warlord, in their fight to stop Granderson from continuing to massacre innocent people. It is discovered that remnants of other branches of the U.S. Armed Forces still exist, and some characters embark on quests to locate their loved ones. The crew of the USS Nathan James also faces off against a new enemy in the form of a group of people who have united over their common trait of immunity from the fatal disease who attempt to continue spreading the infection in order to rise to power. Meanwhile, Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) perseveres in her relentless mission to concoct a vaccination and spread it throughout the world.

It's nice to have nuance, but sometimes you just want to watch someone with a crew cut ask in earnest, "What's the status of the RHIBs?"

Exciting and action-packed, the second season of The Last Ship takes the series to the next level. After returning to port with the cure to the Red Flu the crew of the U.S.S. Nathan James finds the country torn apart by despots and demagogues, and must find a way to bring it back together. It's a daring direction to take the series in, and it allows the show to expand beyond the virus plot line. Also, the actors give some extraordinary performances. And, the battle sequences are incredibly intense and have an authentic feel to them. A riveting adventure, The Last Ship's second season continues to up the stakes and delivers non-stop thrills.

It really should have been the last season of the Last Ship. After saving DC, the crew must face off a British rogue ship while protecting the president with the help of new crew members. The plot was running stale.
