News & Interviews for The Morning Show: Season 1
The high-stakes drama is dialled up to 11 in almost every scene as it draws on all the attendant controversies of the #metoo/Weinstein/Kavanaugh scandals. Top notch stuff.
Glossy and expensive, the series is a giant, faultlessly tasteful gift box filled mostly with packing peanuts.
The most recent hour...really altered the tone of the series and added an important new perspective to all that came before it.
"The Morning Show" is stylish and fast-paced, the biggest project among nine original programs kicking off the new Apple TV+ service.
Witherspoon's performance is the connective tissue that holds the show together. Aniston is great, as well, but Witherspoon's Bradley is just next level good.
The script has Aaron Sorkin's punchy rhythm and Amy Sherman-Palladino's melodramatic styling, even though it mocks the latter. But often smart-sounding bromides are fed into the mouth of a character to make up for weak dialogue.
Sure, its stars filled cast may somehow lower the importance of its premise, but The Morning Show is no less than an noteworthy affirmation. [Full review In Spanish].
A story much more attractive in its concept than in its execution. [Full Review in Spanish]
This is TV about the 1% made by the 1% and produced by the ultimate 1% company, and it's simply less interesting than the true story that it's ripping off.
It's certainly fascinating to watch The Morning Show consistently jump in the deep end without knowing how to swim - it's just not entertaining to watch it flounder around helplessly scene after scene, a creative misfire of epically-budgeted proportions.
Audience Reviews for The Morning Show: Season 1
19h agoFinally - - - a show that presents ALL points of view with wit and bite; not just the view that HOLLYWOOD espouses. White progressive male assistant "The EPA just issued a report which says the planet will burst into flames in 20 years" Mia (an African American female producer) "I must have skipped that chapter" Reese Witherspoon (a self described libertarian) completely destroys a PRO COAL protestor on how COAL is so terribly bad for the environment - - -and guess what?!!? I listened because it felt REAL and not like I was being PREACHED to by the typical Hollywood closed minded, moron. OMG - - -a diversity of diverse opinion from diverse human beings----so complex, so refreshing, so REAL! And the fact that the "so called professional" critic rated TMS at only 61% and the Viewers at 93% just seals the deal for me. I AM ALL IN....can't wait for more.
5d agoI am not usually and Aniston, Witherspoon or Carell fan. I only started watching because I received free AppleTV with my phone and this was the first thing that came up on the home screen. I am so glad that I pressed play! This is the most gripping TV series this side of The Sopranos. The script is superb and explores sensitive and complex issues from multiple angles. There was literally not a dull moment or unnecessary scene in the entire series. Absolutely blown away by the quality and depth of this production. I hope there are a lot more like it.
Jan 08, 2021Well-acted, well-scripted tense story about sexual misconduct in the workplace. It explores all the different sides and nuances of the situation and the consequences of silence AND disclosure. I'd watch it again.
Dec 19, 2020I had high expectations but it wasn't as great as I hoped. Enjoyable enough but not a home run. Don't think it was award-show worthy.
Dec 18, 2020I don't write many reviews, but I feel like the critics got this one completely wrong. It is phenomenal. I have never been a Jennifer Aniston fan - until now. She shows a range of acting not seen in a very long time. We also get to see the genius that is Steve Carrell, showing that he can play comedy and the dramatic bad guy. And Gugu's final scene with Reese Witherspoon is incredible. No one phones it in on this show. The reviewer for The Guardian has gone back and changed their mind, apologizing for their initial poor review and saying it's the best thing on TV. I haven't seen TV this good since The Sopranos and The Americans and I urge everyone to watch the first four episodes and then tell me if you're able to stop watching after that, because that fourth episode is enthralling. Trust the viewers on this, and you watch: the "professionals" will give the second season a 100%.
Nov 30, 2020Haven't been so hooked on a TV show in a long time. It's amazing although it's not a thriller it's exciting and thrilling- makes you realise what good scripts that plays with emotion can have such an impact. Was at the edge of my seat!
Nov 30, 2020What an amazing serie, I don't understand the critics score, because I think The Morning Show is a very entertaining and well-acted series. J.Aniston, R. Witherspoon and S. Carrel had spectacular performances. I like how the series can handle a lot of character stories, without the main ones overshadowing the stories of the rest of the cast. Besides that the story about Mitch sexual misconduct in the office is very exciting.
Nov 29, 2020Kept me bound to watch every episode. Loved cinematography, screenplay and acting by ensemble (with writing)..... Thrilled for brand new season ❤️❤️
Nov 29, 2020Too many characters that are all superficially the same and don't particularly distinguish themselves, and who are difficult to like. In fact I haven't found a likeable character in the whole show. Aniston and Witherspoon's characters do nothing for me. Underwhelming.
Nov 23, 2020This is good, plain and simple. Multi faceted characters with depth relaying the real world and acting human. Iv been there (obligated to forfeit my body only to wind up blamed and shamed... embarrassed, humiliated and soiled) thank you for telling it like it is. Wonderful acting (Jennifer, Steve and Reese great job) thank you
