760 F 10/13/2023 It's about time that facts are being presented in an easy to watch documentary style. The secrets, shame, lack of knowledge and misinformation about the female anatomy and sex in general, is the core of so much mental health pain. This should be getting 5 star 10/10 accolades for at least trying to open the narrative. Knowledge is power and without people like these creator's pushing the uncomfortable or censorship boundaries, in a clean and normalizing way like this movie has, the stigma, shame and lies will just keep trucking along hurting more and more souls. See more Dan B 08/07/2023 I read Emily nagoski made a statement that there is no such thing as a sex drive. It may make women feel better if they have none but most sex therapists and regular folk would disagree based on experience. I understand women have different types of "drives" than men but to say there no such thing a a sex drive is rather naive and makes you wonder the type of information you get from the series See more 06/13/2022 I tried, but I couldn't have been less interested in the delivery and content of this series. Thank goodness it's a "limited series". Here's a novel idea, why not try to mix in some heterosexual content? Either that, or title it appropriately. Unattractive, dull, confused women sharing their feelings about themselves and other women in a safe environment that encourages and promotes putting people to sleep. See more 04/22/2022 I really enjoyed this. The sex education system- certainly in the UK- has massively let women and the lgbtq+ community down; this show goes out of it's way to make sure it's viewers know that they are normal, and they are deserving of pleasure. Whilst mostly geared towards women it would be well worth men watching it with an open mind as it provides an insight into the difficulties women are presented with, in regards to sex and sexuality. The show dismantles myths surrounding female sexuality and pleasure, as well as provide a context as to why they exist, in a fun and informative way. The show also provides statistics and information about sex and women's pleasure and the research surrounding it, that enlighten and allow women to feel represented and less alone. All in all, this feels like a step in the right direction. See more 03/24/2022 It feels like a late 2020 DEI lecture ate Sex Ed and pooped out this series. Women's sexual liberation is so important and so needed right now. So it's hard to watch this group of filmmakers contort themselves into their idea of ultimate wokeness at the expense of speaking to the 99% of women who would have otherwise watched it and benefited. Emily Nagoski is terrific, though. See more 03/24/2022 Only halfway through the first episode, and I'm already like, what are you talking about?? What does the pleasure principle have to do with white supremacy?? I've watched hundreds of rap/hip-hop videos that define what this particular culture thinks of women, which is that they're bitches and ho's who are basically around to shake their asses and fulfill the sexual fantasies of men who blatantly refuse to commit or give females any type of emotional security. I especially like how white people are constantly being blamed for constructing the images of how women and everything else is to be viewed. It's ridiculous. People should take responsibility for how their own cultures shape and mold how women in their own respective cultures are portrayed before blaming white people and holding them solely responsible for this type of negative imagery. I did enjoy how the sex therapist who is African-American and who brought up colonization and white supremacy neglected to mention how her own culture portrays women in the media and how that negativity has affected and influenced every other culture on earth where men now think it's okay to openly call or think of women as bitches and ho's and treat them as such. Rap made this type of open misogyny cool under the blanket of freedom of speech as an expression of their "culture." Hello. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Additionally, most of the women on this show so far are not good examples of the healthful images that women strive for. Loving your body is great, but being morbidly obese is unhealthy, so please, don't try to get people to accept that not being able to project a more healthy image of one's self is a negative thing because people are too whatever their excuse is to be healthy when the truth is that being thin is healthy and being loaded down by fat isn't. Period. I feel like I cannot take nor listen to advice from people who do not practice what they preach. Perhaps shame serves a purpose that these so-called psychologists have neglected to recognize, which is that it's supposed to motivate people to become better, more healthy. The only positive that I'm seeing in this docuseries is that it's addressing that female pleasure is important and that men aren't good at pleasuring women, and they should start becoming interested in becoming better lovers because pleasure in a man's mind has to do with what they use as their blueprint for what they think gives women orgasms and that is male-driven porn that glorifies their own orgasms while not giving af about whether the female is having one or not because, why should that be important?? Women are then pressured to "fake it" to stroke the male's ego, which leaves them unsatisifed in the most vulnerable interaction two humans can have with one another. The irony?? This is what men pride their sexual prowess on — their ability to bring a woman to orgasm. If women aren't having them, that's their fault, not ours. That being said, the series is probably worth the watch, but it's lacking on so many levels already that are so biased it's making me feel ill. It makes me miss the 80s and 90s when people had to organically interact with one another and use their feelings as their guide, not their overly analytical brain. See more Read all reviews
