Tomato P @RT74213220 12/08/2024 I was hopeful starting this documentary, and hoping that it would shed light on this important topic, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. Instead of delivering a well-researched, factual account, the filmmakers prioritized thhe emotions, the sensationalism, and making the characters greater and more important than what was actually true. In other words, the emotional and dramatic elements took center stage, often at the expense of the truth. Which is unfortunate because the truth - I believe - was more than enough. The narrative seemed tailor-made for sensationalism, with dramatic music and over-the-top editing that exaggerated the significance of certain events or individuals. Characters were elevated to near-mythical status, which felt manipulative and unearned, especially when the underlying facts were either glossed over or outright ignored. The result was a skewed portrayal that left me questioning the documentary’s credibility. What made this experience particularly frustrating was the lack of attention to detail. Basic facts were either misrepresented or treated as secondary to the emotional arc of the story. Viewers looking for insight into the subject matter were left with little more than dramatized half-truths. This approach might appeal to audiences seeking entertainment, but for those who value accuracy, it was disappointing and frustrating. Ultimately, the documentary missed an opportunity to inform and educate. While the visuals and emotional storytelling may captivate some viewers, the lack of factual rigor undermines its purpose See more Read all reviews
