The TikTok Killer is a two-part docuseries that needed better film editing because the documentary's timeline is jumbled. However, the documentary does a good job of centering the story on murder victim Maria Ester Estepa Pérez and her loved ones. Go to Full Review

Marco L @decatur555 Mar 16 The TikTok Killer is a true-crime miniseries that, for me, fails at the most basic level: it never makes you care. Not about the victim, not about the investigation, and not even about the killer as a documentary subject. Everything is told in such a flat, lifeless way that instead of building tension or fascination, it just becomes exhausting. The documentary leans far too much on the presence of the killer, but rather than making him disturbing, it makes him tedious. There is no real atmosphere, no gripping narrative drive, and no emotional impact. Even the morbid curiosity that sometimes rescues weaker true crime docs never really appears. In the end, it feels like a slog you just want to finish. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Mar 13 The TikTok Killer is a disturbing true-crime documentary that explores a man who pretended on social media to help locate victims while secretly being responsible for the murders himself. From the beginning it’s fairly obvious who the killer is, so the tension comes from watching how everything unfolded rather than discovering the truth. The concept is chilling because it shows how easily someone can manipulate people through platforms like TikTok. One drawback is the dubbing. Because the original language can still be heard underneath the English voices, the sound editing becomes distracting at times. Despite that flaw, the story is engaging enough to follow and highlights the dangers of trusting strangers online. It’s educational and unsettling, but overall it feels average compared to stronger true-crime documentaries. It’s watchable for the story alone, though not something I’d likely revisit or strongly recommend. See more Read all reviews
