Sui G @RT27927172 09/23/2024 This is an OUTSTANDING documentary. I was already so well versed in Wonderland that I almost didn't watch this. The movie was okay but depressing. I thought I knew the whole story, backward and forwards. Thank goodness I watched it anyway because this is the best crime doc I've watched since Night Stalker. In fact, this is way better. I watch TONS of documentaries and I'm formaly educated in filmmaking. I know the difference between good documentaries and TRASH - MOST crime documentaries are trash. The best crime documentary of ALL time is the OG crime documentary - Thin Blue Line. Is this a masterpiece film like Thin Blue line, no, however it is a masterpiece TELEVISION documentary. The 1 thing that's CRITICAL to good crime docs is to tell a "procedural" story. The COPS should be the star focus, with witness interviews, lawyers, and other people connected to the case. With all due respect, covering the victim's families or the impact on victims families is BORING. The other critical component is editing and sound. Modern documentaries are trash because they embellish the story with editing, manipulative music and silly sound effects. There's no jump cuts, fancy graphics, animation, silly recreations, self-indulgent editing, or over-the-top sound effects. They use a Newpaper reporter to LEAD/Narrate the audience through the story in interviewing key people who worked on the case and it is handled BRILLIANTLY. They do EVERYTHING right, it's fascinating from beginning to end, riveting pace, and any critic who doesn't agree - doesn't know a damn thing about documentaries. MUST SEE See more Read all reviews
