This three-part series introduced by musician Joe Walsh (The Eagles) explores the history, geography, archaeology and biology of eight islands off the California coast. Interviews with historians and natives provide the personal history for each of these islands, which date back 14,000 years. Segments include the story of Juana Maria, who survived on San Nicolas Island, alone, for 18 years; the family of William Wrigley Jr. keeps his vision for Santa Catalina Island alive; and Chumash paddlers make an annual voyage to Santa Cruz Island in the dead of night.
