A former journalist and newspaper editor, Cheryl Heuton, along with her husband Nick Falacci, is the creator, executive producer, and writer behind the 2005-2010 TV series "Numbers." Heuton studied literature at the University of San Diego and soon found work writing for local newspapers. After meeting Falacci, a fellow mountain climber, in 1990, they moved to New York City and began working on numerous television and film scripts. The creative pair sold several scripts but none were produced until 2005, when their mathematically-inclined drama "Numbers" was bought by CBS. The show, which starred David Krumholtz as a brilliant mathematician who advises his FBI brother on especially challenging cases, earned positive reviews for its application of complex mathematical equations and unique storylines. Heuton and Falacci have received several awards for their work on the show, including a Public Service Award from the National Science Foundation and a Carl Sagan Award for Public Understanding of Science, and the show has featured guest appearances by several noted scientists, including physicist Stephen Hawking.
