Clegg Hoyt rose to fame as an actor, gracing the silver screen many times over the course of his Hollywood career. Hoyt kickstarted his acting career in various films such as "Santiago" (1956), the Robert Wagner remake "The True Story of Jesse James" (1956) and the Scott Brady western "The Restless Breed" (1957). He also appeared in "D*mn Citizen!" (1958). His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the Burt Lancaster crime drama "The Young Savages" (1961), "13 West Street" (1962) with Alan Ladd and the drama "Pressure Point" (1962) with Sidney Poitier. He also worked in television during these years, including a part on "The Twilight Zone" (CBS, 1959-1964). In the latter part of his career, he tackled roles in the Cary Grant comedy "That Touch of Mink" (1962), the dramatic adaptation "Seven Days in May" (1964) with Burt Lancaster and the Jack Lemmon comedy adventure "The Great Race" (1965). Additionally, he appeared on the television special "The House Next Door" (NBC, 1963-64). Hoyt more recently acted in the dramatic adaptation "In the Heat of the Night" (1967) with Sidney Poitier. Hoyt passed away in October 1967 at the age of 57.
