Garrett Donovan, best-known for his work with collaborator Neil Goldman, earned his first film credit in 1996 as an assistant to producer Chris Hanley on the independent dramedy "Trees Lounge," which was written, directed, and starred Steve Buscemi. Two years later Donovan made his mark in television, co-writing an episode of the family sitcom "Step by Step" with Goldman. The next year, he and Goldman moved on to the subversive animated comedy "Family Guy." In 2001, the pair began writing for the hospital set comedy "Scrubs." Within a year, Donovan took on producing duties, and by 2006 he'd become executive producer of the long-running sitcom. In 2009, the pair moved on to the new college comedy "Community," where both serve as executive producers. Though Donovan is widely recognized as a writer and producer, he's also made acting appearances on the shows on which he's worked. On "Family Guy," Donovan voiced the role of Dream Santa in the 2001 Christmas special, and he's appeared twice on "Scrubs," once as Baby Marrick and once as Councilman Donovan, a disgraced politician and crystal meth addict.
