Actor Jeff Maxwell did his most memorable work in the 1970s, on the long-running, acclaimed war comedy series "M.A.S.H.," on which he portrayed Pvt. Igor Straminsky. Maxwell's professional acting career began auspiciously with small role in Mel Brooks's classic horror parody "Young Frankenstein." From there he landed a part on Golden Globe winning family saga "The Waltons" and in John Landis's cult comedy "Kentucky Fried Movie" in 1977. Roles on popular TV programs including the highway cop patrol series "CHiPs" and family dramedy "Eight is Enough" led to the part of Straminsky, the wisecracking mess hall worker on "M.A.S.H." in 1973. He appeared on the Golden Globe winning series for 10 years, but after the show wrapped in 1983, his screen appearances trickled off, until he unofficially retired from screen acting in the 2000s. However, Maxwell, who appeared on 77 episodes of the popular and subversive, is active on "M.A.S.H."-related websites, answering behind-the-scenes questions. He even published a cookbook, "M.A.S.H. Mess: The Lost Recipes of Private Igor."
