Few people have enjoyed a better ringside seat to the evolution of British TV than producer Mark Shivas; his contributions date all the way back to the 1970 mini-series "The Six Wives of Henry VIII." Unlike American network television, the BBC and other UK channels have continued to embrace shorter episode runs, running all sorts of TV series in lengths that fit the subject matter. Such programming has been a staple of Shivas' career, be it to tell the story of "Casanova" in six episodes or the tale of "The Borgias" in 10. In the '90s, Shivas also worked on the BBC anthology film series "Screen Two" as an executive producer, part of "The Beeb"'s answer to the incredible success generated by rival Channel Four's feature film and TV movie efforts. Shivas garnered three separate Emmy nominations for that "Henry VIII" mini-series and has continued, throughout his illustrious career, to rack up numerous BAFTA wins and nominations. In '99, he garnered a pair of BAFTA TV nods for "Talking Heads 2," an interview portrait program.
