Meagan Duhamel
Meagan Duhamel, a Canadian pairs skater, was born on Dec. 8, 1985, in Sudbury, Ontario. She began skating when she was 3 years old, and at age 14, she moved to Barrie, Ontario, to train at the Mariposa School of Skating. Although she competed in pairs and singles for several years, she found her efforts concentrated around pairs skating when she teamed up with Ryan Arnold in 2004. They became the first skaters to perform a side-by-side triple lutz in competition at the 2005 Canadian Championships. Her partnership with Arnold ended in 2006 due to injury. Duhamel competed in the 2007 Canadian Championships and placed sixth. It was the last time she competed as a single skater. Later in 2007, she moved to Montreal and teamed up with Craig Buntin. In January 2008, the pair won the bronze medal at the Canadian Nationals. They continued their partnership until July 2010 when Buntin announced his retirement from competitive figure skating. Shortly thereafter, Duhamel partnered with Eric Radford, and they won a silver medal at both the 2011 Canadian Championships and the 2011 Four Continents Championship. Duhamel's success with Radford continued throughout the 2011-2012 season, as they won bronze medals at the 2011 Skate Canada and 2011 Trophee Eric Bompard. They also won their first national title and finished fifth at the 2012 World Championships. In the 2012-2013 season, Duhamel and Radford took silver medals at the 2012 Skate Canada International and the 2012 Trophee Eric Bompard. They also claimed their second national title and won their first Four Continents title. They stepped onto an international podium for the first time at the 2013 World Championships in London, Ontario, where they won the bronze medal. Duhamel's success with Radford continued into the 2013-2014 season. Although they finished seventh at the 2014 Winter Olympics, they returned to the podium at the 2014 World Championships, securing a bronze medal. Executing a quad throw, they won the 2014 Autumn Classic International held in Barrie, Ontario. After being chosen to compete in the 2014 Skate Canada International and the 2014 NHK Trophy, they won both events, leading them to their fourth Canadian title and their second Fourth Continents title. Duhamel and Radford began the 2015-2016 season by winning the 2015 Skate Canada Autumn Classic. They won gold medals at the 2015 Skate Canada International and 2015 NHK Trophy. The pair took silver at the Grand Prix Final in Barcelona and finished off the season by winning the Canadian Championships and World Championships. The 2016-2017 season saw Duhamel earn a bronze medal with Radford at the Grand Prix before winning her sixth consecutive national title with him. They took silver at the 2017 Four Continents Championship and finished in seventh place at the 2017 World Championships. Duhamel's winning ways with Radford continued in the 2017-2018 season when they cemented a trip to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, with a win at the Canadian Championships. Once in PyeongChang, Duhamel and Radford were victorious again, bringing home a bronze medal for Canada in the pair skating event.
