Born on August 29, 1964, in Oakland, California, Perri Reid, known professionally Pebbles, is an American singer-songwriter, businesswoman, pastor, record producer and music executive. In 1980, Reid got her start as a backing vocalist for Bill Summers and the funk band Con Funk Shun. Reid co-wrote "Body Lovers." Reid's demo tape and video for "Mercedes Boy" led to a contract with MCA. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, she recorded several hit singles on her own. In July 1989, Reid, aka Pebbles, formed the Atlanta-based production company Pebbitone and founded the record label, Savvy Records. In 1997, Pebbles underwent a religious conversion. Under her new stage name, Sister Perri, she founded Women of God Changing Lives (WOGCL) Ministries. In 2008, after a 13-year music hiatus, Reid released her fourth album and debut gospel album. In February 2011, Perri Reid was named the executive producer/host of Essence's national R&B search.
