Rick Mittleman is an American television writer and producer best known for his work on such shows as "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." and "The Odd Couple." A prolific writer, Mittleman wrote over 100 hours of primetime television during his lengthy career. He broke into TV in 1962 with a job on the writing staff of the popular sketch comedy series "The Red Skelton Hour." He left the show the following year and found steady work on such shows as "Bewitched," "Get Smart," and "I Spy," and wrote over 15 episodes of the war sitcom "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.." During the '70s Mittleman contributed to numerous primetime series, including "Sanford and Son," "The Doris Day Show," and "The Odd Couple," in addition to writing and consulting on "What's Happening!!." From 1984 to 1986 he was staff writer and story consultant on the private detective series "Remington Steele" and the action-adventure series "MacGyver." He later wrote and produced several episodes of the award-winning mystery series "Simon & Simon," and contributed to "Murder, She Wrote" and the short-lived adventure series "The Wizard."
