Movie Info

An ex-convict attempting to atone for his past and start a family gets involved with a series of crimes that threaten to drag him down while destroying any chance for a happy life. Prison was hard, but now that Anthony (Mark Irvingsen) has a second shot at life, he's determined to make it work. After moving in with his mother (Jody Jaress), Anthony attempts to raise enough money to purchase a place of his own. If he can make that happen, he could invite his son (Luciano Rauso) to come live with him. But the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and despite the fact that Anthony's son still wants to be with his father, baggage and all, things quickly start to unravel once the repentant ex-con is lured back into a life of crime.

  • Although Reynolds' script sometimes slips into sentimentality and entertains the odd delusion of grandeur, the film mostly presents a spare, refreshingly clear-eyed depiction of a deadbeat's downward spiral.
