Critics Consensus

Slow, cheap-looking, and dull, Season of the Witch fails even as unintentional comedy.

After a while, the movie tires of the witch business and trots out a plot twist that permits the effects department to spend money. Go to Full Review

Director Dominic Sena sets a quick pace; the dull moments are brightened by the unexpectedly likable team of Cage and Perlman. Go to Full Review

It’s an insulting piece of genre fluff that feels conceived by Dungeons and Dragons aficionados and executed with the sophistication of a hack-and-slash video game. Go to Full Review

Cooper G 5d 12:00 am I finished this movie? This movie was terrible for the time. The CGI was horrible. The story is OK. But that movie is well mid. It’s a good movie about the Crusade but not a good movie in general. That movie is not as memorable. The ending was good though the beginning of the movie was pretty good and epic. With the Crusaders. saying hate speech. By the way, I hate Nazis Trump turning point USAand the kkk clan because they’re stupid In conclusion this movie is notoriously forgettable There are way better movies than this one including the Transformers movie bayverse trilogy and the Sam rami Spider-Man trilogy. See more Mica B. @Mica_B 5d It was alright. Great actors and acting, but the story and writing were meh, and the witch character was annoying and really getting on my nerves. My sister and I saw the twist coming from miles away. Ending was OK but predictable. See more Richard B @Komard Jan 9 Season of the Witch presents an intriguing medieval premise, but weak execution undermines it at nearly every level. The story lacks narrative depth and moves through its plot mechanically, rarely allowing tension or atmosphere to develop. Themes of faith, fear, and superstition are introduced but never meaningfully explored. Performances are uneven. Nicolas Cage appears disengaged, and the supporting cast is constrained by thin character writing and limited motivation. Pacing is a major issue, rushing through key developments while lingering on scenes that add little substance. Technically, the film is competent but uninspired, with visual effects and production design failing to elevate the material. The ideas are there, but the film never commits to them with clarity or discipline. See more Ron S. Jan 9 Fun movie with good set designs. A Dungeons and dragons like movie. See more Gabrielius R @Agurkinis Dec 23 What a stupid and deadly unorigilnal movie, what enrage me even more is that the movie at times looks kinda nice, same of the light and prosthetics work is good, and that's sad cause this movie does not deserve it. At First I was not shure is this movie a comedy or does it take it selve serieasly. If you enjoy qualyti cinema, here you will find only sadness and truly unrelised potencial. The making of is so stupid, at some point it becomes kinda funny. They take them selves so serieasly. By far better than movie because it is so so stupid, Its so bad it becomes kinda good See more Nino H. @bluetrees12 Dec 17 Everything you want in an early 2000s action fantasy movie. Good, likable characters that move the story along in a simple predictable way. Great action Scenes and fun to watch for all ages. See more Read all reviews
