Movie Info
In this family film, the Robinson clan -- mother (Dorothy McGuire), father (John Mills) and their three sons, Fritz, Ernst and Francis -- flee the reign of Napoleon to start afresh in New Guinea. When their ship gets damaged en route, the family takes refuge on a deserted island. The Robinsons learn to live in the wild, have various adventures and build an impressive house in a tree. However, while island life is full excitement, the question of whether to return to civilization looms.

Jan 13, 2010Next to 20,000 Leagues, I would say that this is one of Disney's best live action movies of the time. It's such a fun movie with everything you love about adventure. Pirates, tree houses, animal races, etc. It's just an extremely rich story that is told beautifully, there's no way you can't love this movie.Conner R Super Reviewer

Dec 30, 2008A great family Disney film. Always enjoyed watching this when I was young and you can't help getting swept up in the magic of it (helped especially by it all being filmed on location. This film contains the best treehouse ever...period! Quite odd watching it now as you expect to see Kate, Jack or Sawyer walking into frame!David S Super Reviewer

Feb 24, 2008a disney animal farm with a girl in it disguised as a man... who looked better in her boy clothes than the dress. john mills was in it... so you may be thinking that's a pro... but it's the only thing positive about it. there's some really dumb pirates about... i guess janet munro was a bit pretty in a tomboy way. meh... and i guess seeing random animals running around that add nothing to the plot was a bit amusingSanity Assassin !
