A high-budget flick that should've been direct-to-video and not featured any of the regular Die Hard aspects including the actual title itself. An abysmal out-of-place mark on the franchise.

One critic says it's the weakest of the storied franchise, but I say it's good. It's a father and son story that takes place in Russia for the most part. Lots of guns, action, and destruction. The storyline is typical Die Hard fare.

I liked it, I think it captured the originals humour and accidental hero style.

The Die Hard series is all about violent and bloody mass murder, that is somehow kept fun, because of the characters and dialogue. That's a precarious balance to maintain, and this movie just missed the tone of Die Hard completely. The world isn't fleshed out at all. There is no feeling of continuity between this and the other movies. Lucy McClane is thrown in for a brief moment, but the otherwise excellent and hilarious relationship between father and daughter that is established in Die Hard 4 is just gone. The characters are bland and two-dimensional, both on the good and evil side. Perhaps the most grievous exemplar of this is John McClane Junior, who just doesn't bother to act at all. There is absolutely no chemistry between father and son, Junior being actively dislike-able. At one point I was rooting for the marginally more charismatic bad guy to shoot him in the face. Even McClane lacks his hilarious one-liners and quips. You're going to be heartily sick of the phrase "I'm just on vacation" halfway through this movie. The story lacks any real cohesion, the dialogue is horrible, in parts even nonsensical: "Who's the smart one now?" "Hey, I'm just here on vacation" (not verbatim). The best action happens 20 minutes into the movie, the climax being anything but. It does feature an inexplicably half-naked Russian guy with "CCCP" tattooed on his back though, so there is that. There is just no point to this movie. It's a mediocre action film, with Bruce Willis tacked on.

Tragiczna, amatorsko trzęsąca się kamera z łapy, całkowicie przypadkowe kadrowanie, nieciekawe kolory. Niesympatyczni i nieciekawi bohaterowie. Zmarnowany czas

One of the worst sequels to a major action film franchise you will ever see.

John Moore is able to carry out big action scenes on an impressive scale, however, what is missing in this installment is the wit and character of John Mcclane, we see this to some extent, but not as strong as he was in the previous Die Hard films. The plot itself belongs in a generic spy film. Watch the film for some fun action scenes and at times interesting dynamic between John Mcclane and his son.

Serviceable as an action movie but a massive stain on the franchise

Die Hard is one of the great action movie franchises of all time. This movie is barely related to the success of the originals. Yes, Bruce Willis is still amazingly fun to watch; however, by 2013 he had begun his transition from Box Office star to "Straight to Video" machine. Some good special effects. Some car chases, gun battles, and sharp tongues define this story of McLane's attempt to rescue his son from a Russian prison, only to learn his son's role is more complex than Willis realized. This movie requires you to suspend disbelief in a way no prior DIE HARD movie did before. A silly plot. Lot's of silly dialogue. Willis is the reason to watch. Jai Courtney is pretty good as Willis' son, and Kate's, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, is his daughter.
