It's been nearly two years since Superman's colossal battle with Zod devastated the city of Metropolis. What a letdown this movie was. The story was too long and all over the place, the acting is subpar, and while the action had its moments, its too damn dark to see things well sometimes. It wants to be like the Dark Knight with its complex and deep plot, but it fails miserable at it. No wonder the rest of the DCU went for a more campy/humorous route, because the darker tone wasn't working.

It could have been an amazing movie had it not try to build shit characters in the background justice League. Biggest f up of this movie was casting that shitty actor as lex Luthor... I mean if that's not the worst casting ever I don't know what is. As soon as I seen him in the movie I almost walked out... Then I was like no give him a chance Nd boy was I wrong to not walk out

Vastly underrated rated movie. If you’re going to watch this movie watch the ultimate cut. Much better than what was released in theaters as it fills in some plot holes presented in the theatrical cut.

I think people are being too critical. I thought it was an interesting take on this story and that the cast, effects, and plot were engaging. The pacing was a little sluggish and there were definitely plot holes and some nuanced themes (that could have not been so nuanced) but overall we had fun with it. I can see why DC purists might have objections, but if you watch it outside of that silo it's fun and definitely action-packed. Watch this one with your 5, 9, and 11 year-olds!
