Movie Info

Looking for Christmas spirit? Well, how about a spirit celebrating Christmas? That's the star attraction in this computer-animated story for the entire family. The holiday season has arrived, and Casper the Friendly Ghost (voice of Brendon Ryan Barrett) is looking forward to celebrating Christmas. But it turns out that Kibosh, the ruler of the ghost's world, has some bad news for Casper -- he hasn't been scaring enough people lately, and unless he can put a fright into someone on Christmas Eve, he'll be exiled to the land of the wicked ghosts. Casper is sent to the village of Chrismassachusetts and tries to frighten someone, but try as he might, Casper is too goodhearted to scare anyone on Christmas Eve. However, his friends the Ghostly Trio are looking after him, and when they see what sort of trouble Casper is having, they talk his cousin Spooky into frightening someone for him. Top-selling country music star Randy Travis contributes a new song to the soundtrack. This direct-to-video release was produced under the title Casper's a Merry Scary Christmas.

A sweet and somewhat sophisticated holiday tale.

There's something diseased about a cartoon series predicated on the utterly wholesome adventures of a deceased juvenile.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Boo Year! Kibosh is the ruler of all ghosts and has a rule that every ghost on Earth has to scare one human per year; and guess who hasn't met their quota? Casper. Casper and his family of ghosts are sent to Christmas, Massachusetts in hopes of getting Casper to scare one human. Can Casper achieve this goal or will the spirit of Christmas prevent him from scaring anyone and get him and his family banished from Earth. "We really are ghosts!" "You method actors." Owen Hurley and Kris Zimmerman collaborate to deliver Casper: The Haunted Ghost. The storyline for this picture is just okay but fun to watch unfold and the animation style was better than I anticipated. I enjoyed the mixture of the ghost and Christmas plot. "It's our first date and I'm not that kind of ghost." We grabbed this off Netflix and my daughter and I watched it together this holiday season. She loved it and was glued to the television from beginning to end. I didn't think this is a classic or elite in any way, but it was entertaining and worth a viewing. "Halloween, now that's a good holiday!" Grade: C+

The cartoon version of Casper isn't as good as the real life version of Casper. The animation was like that of a video games, just not as good. Storyline also wasn't that great, young kids might like it, its a feelgood movie so it isn't a total dissapointment.
