A perceptive and lyrical tale of a counter culture dope pusher in sixties Venice Beach. The acting is confident and habours the grit of authenticity. Kristofferson and Hackman are excellent and the locations and sets transport you back in time.

No mention of Hackman?

A nice little piece of obscure '70s grit and realism. Fantastic performances all around.

Great cast and a pretty good look help, but this movie is pretty typical of the drug dealer genre of film. Kris Kristofferson is pretty good (looking weird without a beard) but the story is pretty uninspired. Gene Hackman shows up as a crazed, crooked cop. All in all, just an OK movie. Worth a watch if you're in the mood for movies from this era, but otherwise, blah.

Great debut for Kris Krisofferson as an ex con who must sell narc Gene Hackman's dope for him. A great cast w/ the addition of Karen Black & Harry Dean Stanton. It's pretty laid back as Krisofferson runs against the clock to unload the stash until Hackman really shows his lunatic fringe. An unrecognized film from the 70s that deserves a look; if only for the cast alone

Action-packed thriller about a singing cowboy twice busted for dealing drugs trying to go straight. But, a bad cop (Gene Hackman) makes him deal once again. Exciting, dramatic, typical high-grade Hackman film... oh, wait, that's another movie. This one is Kristofferson, Karen Black, and Hackman with a bit part, trying to make a bad movie good in some way. But, they can't.

Great performances abound in this leisurely paced film about the end of the counterculture. Reminded me of the seventies films that strived for realism like Joe and The King of Marvin Gardens.

early turn by Hackman as sped-up bent cop, Harry Dean Stanton comes apart at the seams, and Kristofferson just plays it cool and stoic. totally slept on as a great outride of the late 60s...

I'll eat an Irish grape farmer's Scottish terrier before I watch this eggnog-o-rama.

One of my favorite films that i haven't seen 4 too long a time.Hackman is indeed the very scary antithesis of 60's drug culture. And HDS od's in the bath as well. Great movie.

Kris Kristofferson and Gene Hackman being awesome what more do you need.

Fascinating little curiosity about a washed up rocker who trying to sell a shitload of weed in one weekend. Very much a post-hippie comedown film; Hackman's crooked cop is practically a stand-in for Nixonian paranoia and corruption.

Utterly phenomenal. Everything about this film is damn near perfect-great soundtrack, brilliant performances and an unbelievable cast-you MUST see this film. The only downside is that with the exception of Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Kristofferson would never be this good again.
