Now, I'm no professional movie-rater, but this movie is great. Yes at points the plot feels jumbled up, but it ends up connecting. I do like how the CGI in this movie looks amazing and really reminds me of the Transformers movies from the 2000's. The plot of the story is that 200 years after some kind of cataclysm occurs, perhaps a nuclear armageddon, or a global disease that wiped most of humanity off the face of the earth, which starts by revolving around a box created by the builders that opens 200 years after they gave it to the first mayor of the underground city of ember. after approximately 241 years after the city was established, supplies dwindle, and the Generator starts to decay, with each outage worse than the next, prompting the three protagonists (Lina, Doon, and Poppy) to flee to the surface. See more Adam S Nov 15 This movie is really related to the book and Lina and Doon look like students in college even tough they are 12 years old and Doon looks 16 and he is supposed to have thick eyebrows like in the book, Also Mayor Cole should be much fatter. Cool movie but not really my favorite. The 200 year old theme park rides working was a joke. MEH See more Josh K Jun 22 For how deep the book is, the movie is incredibly lacklustre. The graphics are usually horrible. The movie seems like it was made to have little "look, see, this is like the book!" moments but then do its own thing rather than following the book, which, again, was written well. I don't quite understand the director's train of thought. He had great source material to use, and then thought he could do his own thing without making it incredibly flat. See more Read all reviews
