Juvenile and purile and cringey. Jermaine Clement's Dr Chavalier is hilarious. This movie has been watched a million times in our household, along with Masters of Disguise. This is a quirky movie for silly boys and girls. Sam Rockwell and Jermaine Clement absolutely kill in this film. Clement's character, Chevalier, is perhaps the most correct depiction of a writer in all of fiction. He is pompous, deluded and narcissistic. Rockwell plays two visions of the same fictional character, one is tough beyond the 1980s and the other is... not aging well. Both are ridiculous and hilarious. Shout out to the cyclops that ran over his own leg with a tracked super market cart. I have no idea why this wasn't cut, but it is practically a "blink and you miss it" thing. This is no exception. It is full of uncomfortable moments that are humorous because you can relate to the people suffering through them. It also humanizes and parodies a certain marginalized group (rural homeschoolers), showing both their oddity but, interestingly enough, also their naive good-heartedness. Hollywood and the coastal elites do not comprehend sincerity. If a film isn´t ironic and searingly political (in their preferred direction), they will disapprove of it. This film´s characters are quite sincere, with the exception of the overbearing Sci-Fi author, who is lampooned ferociously. **Trigger Warning!** The protagonist calls the rewritten version of his character a ¨tr@nny,¨ which likely added to the disdain professional reviewers have for this film. However, that is an authentic way for this type of a character to refer to Brutus/Bronco as he was rewritten. See more James B @Jbob31 Dec 22 This is an epic movie and it’s truly underrated, I didn’t find Gentleman Broncos until I got on a Sam Rockwell kick a couple years ago and gave it a shot….. I was blown away I miss these kind of movies it doesn’t take itself too seriously the humor is on point for the time, I felt all the nostalgia for the earlier 2000s.
