04/04/2015 This film was plotless and pointless. I shut off from this film emotionally after the boy was killed. Do yourself a favor and don't invest emotionally or psychologically in this film....and the ending? I was falling asleep as i watched the film before finally giving up at the 40% mark. Any film that bores me to death won’t get more than a 3/10, and so inspite of all the critical acclaim, all i can say is that this is a good film for insomniacs. As a record store owner who is a bit of a music snob and is seemingly obsessed with Top 5 lists, he makes a Top 5 list of breakups. Hilarity ensures. Although very talky, the film is absolutely engaging and witty. Funny smart and all round enjoyable, High Fidelity is one of the best films of 2000, with an excellent soundtrack. A powerful concoction of love and betrayal, with its frank potrayal of love, sex and lust, A Good Lawyer’s Wife is a film that handles the dynamics of human relationship deftly. The marriage between Moon So-Ri and her lawyer husband seem fine on the outside, but there is a deep emotional disconnect between them. Both of them are cheating around, yet the facade of marriage still remain, until a tragic turn of events unleash the vortex of simmering emotions to the front. Powerfully acted, snappily directed and excellent, although the initially slow pacing and adult content may not be suitable for some. Cinema Paradiso is one of the most charming films i’ve watched and its many poignant imagery like the present that Alfredo would give Toto after his death, makes it imminently watchable. My favourite part comes in the last act of the film, when the grown up Toto returns to his hometown, to his cinema paradiso and the powerful emotions of nostalgia just overwhelm him. A poetic ode to the power of films, nostalgia and love lost, Cinema Paradiso is an engaging film inspite of its sappiness, and a well deserved winner of all the awards. See more Read all reviews
