Aimless David Rice (Hayden Christensen) has the ability to instantly transport himself to any place he can imagine. He uses that gift to globe-trot, living on money he steals by "jumping" into bank vaults. He's captured by the evil Roland Cox (Samuel L. Jackson), who knows how to keep David from jumping. David escapes and reunites with his high school crush, Millie (Rachel Bilson), then forms an alliance with fellow jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell) and prepares for mortal combat with Cox.

I mean this with my whole heart, this is one of my fav movies of all time. The hate was forced and if this movie came out in 2026 and had a Marvel logo slapped on the intro YouTubers would make videos stanning it for how down to earth it was and how we need more grounded stories like this.

Jumper is a sci-fi film that was judged far too harshly, and a lot of that had to do with Hayden Christensen being stuck under the shadow of Star Wars. People were not fully open to seeing him in something different, which hurt the film more than it should have. No, the screenplay is not perfect, and there are definitely flaws in the writing, pacing, and world-building that keep it from becoming the great franchise starter it could have been. But at the same time, the movie is still genuinely fun. The jumping concept is creative, the action moves quickly, and the constant shift from place to place keeps the energy alive. Even when the story feels underdeveloped, it still has enough style and momentum to stay entertaining. You can clearly see the bigger potential hiding underneath it all, and that is what makes it frustrating but still enjoyable. Overall, Jumper is a flawed but underrated film that deserved more credit and probably deserved a sequel too.

The movie is okay and the concept is interesting. However, the main character is absolutely insufferable. He is also a pathological liar 😀 At the beginning, it’s easy to feel bad for him considering his unfortunate situation, but at some point you stop feeling bad for him and wish he would tell the truth for once, especially to the girl he is supposed to love. On a positive note, the British guy is a funny and entertaining character. I wish we saw more of him. The lore is interesting, but I feel like it’s not explained enough and there is too much focus on the romance.
