There’s very little restraint or nuance. Joan Plowright is appealing and does what she can, but it isn’t enough to carry it. We quit after 30 minutes. There is an examination of friendship, family, relationships and loss, although at a fairly paint-by-the-numbers superficial level. Production values are nothing special - it could have been a TV show, but there are some really funny scenes that are done without even any dialogue - the way the actors react and look around - that struck me as masterful.
