See more Ira C @RT81375533 Jun 3 Hathaway was amazing and believable as the devastatingly addicted and troubled daughter with a terrible burden of guilt hanging over her and the family clearly not recovering from the tragedy. The casting was great also with the entire film seeming as though we were just plopped into a real pathological complex family in the middle of what was the longest most bizarre pre and post wedding weekends imaginable..the music that never ended got so annoying that even Hathaway's character had to finally tell the loosey goosey band to knock it off. The family issues are only left uncovered and raw and no resoluton is really looking likely, but one prays that the newlyweds can not fall into the trap of family history. This is NOT a feel good warm and fuzzy film at all and often grates on you but the performances and the emotion give you quite an interesting ride. Don't see it if you are in a down mood. See more John S. @LoneJohnny5 Jun 3 I was seriously disappointed. Far too much did nothing to advance the plot, which seems to be mostly non-existent. The ending provides no resolution except for the sisters reconciling, and even that has to be partially assumed. Add in a "home movie" look and feel, and the result is seriously lacking. Save 2 hours of your life and watch something else. Kim is a very familiar sort of addict: with no actual self-esteem, but with a huge ego that makes everyone around her uncomfortable. She covers up mountains of shame with what she thinks is a witty, sophisticated veneer. It's sometimes excruciating to watch. Meanwhile her family circles her in various states of codependency, alternating between behaving like things are normal, setting occasional boundaries, trying to genuinely engage her, and expressing anger for the ways she's hurt them. They have no idea how to behave or what to do. It all feels immensely real. Seriously, it became uncomfortable to continue watching people dance at a wedding. Also who decided that the dad’s personality was to be so milquetoast?
